The incompatibility with new technologies can bring difficulty and problems when altering these systems as they can no longer be kept up to date at the same speed at which the business wishes to innovate and change. For a large company, it’s an IT nightmare given the complex transition processes. Content Migration is the process of moving all existing content from one type of system to another.

Thankfully, Mavim offers a wide range of Import and Export capabilities to ensure that the transition to onboard Mavim is seamless irrespective of the current system of choice. Mavim supports import and export from and to a wide range of systems, and formats. Here are some ways you can import/ export content to/ from Mavim.

Import Capabilities

ARIS

In upcoming versions of the Manager, Mavim enables Import from the de facto BPMN 2.0 XML file. Process models from Signavio, Aris, and other BPMN 2.0 process modeling software that follows the de facto BMPM 2.0 standard can be imported to Mavim.

In upcoming versions of the Manager, Mavim enables Import from ARIS EPC process models. ARIS EPC XML can be imported to Mavim, and therefore, the EPC import can be converted to BPMN 2.0 models within the Mavim Manager.

Word-document and Excel

Word and Excel are still the most used Document Management Systems at large, complex organizations. Existing process hierarchies in Word and Excel can be imported into Mavim using the Import functionality. Mavim encourages the reusability of content from Word and Excel.

Visio Drawing

Being a Microsoft-based Process modeling system, Mavim supports Visio diagrams. If you as an organization have standalone Visio drawings, they can be imported into Mavim. Moreover, in upcoming versions of Mavim, we will enable the import of Visio diagrams to be converted to BPMN 2.0 models. Although Microsoft Visio doesn’t recognize BPMN 2.0 models, we will enable the ability to convert Visio drawings to BPMN 2.0 models. How exciting?

SQL Server

It is possible to import a data selection of an SQL Server database view into a Mavim database.
It is also possible to update a previous import, based on the corresponding SQL Server database view (because these data could have been changed since the previous import).

TOPdesk

Several organizations use TOPDesk as a service management tool, and to register existing assets to follow the ITIL process, raising tickets, and service calls which are based on a Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Mavim Importer allows you to allow important assets into the Mavim repository.

Manager Version

An exported version can be imported into the database, to be able to use the data in the version (see Version Management). It is possible to import versions from your database as well as versions from other databases.

XML

Importing an XML document allows you to use data from another Mavim database or another source in your database, independent of Version Management.

Active Directory

The Active Directory of a Windows Domain contains users. It is possible to import a selection of these users and their properties into a Mavim database.

It is also possible to update a previous import, based on the corresponding Active Directory data (because these data could have been changed since the previous import).

SharePoint List

A SharePoint list is simply a collection of data that has a structure to it: it is essentially like a table, a spreadsheet, or a simple database. It can include many different types of information including numbers, text, and even images. A SharePoint list is one of the most powerful and flexible features of SharePoint, but its potential is often overlooked. Mavim offers the ability to import SharePoint lists with ease without disruption to the existing information hierarchy.

I-Navigator

I-Navigator is specifically used by the Government in the Netherlands and the Department of Education to store archived data. Mavim enables the import of existing i-Navigator data.

Process Mining

Process Mining data from PowerBI can be imported into Mavim Manager using a CSV file produced by PowerBI.

Export Capabilities

Project

It is possible to export topics as Projects in Project Server. The topics will become Projects in Project Server, the name of the topic will be the name of the Project and the description will be the description in the Project. When a topic is already a Project in Project Server, the title and the description can be updated using the Export to Project function.

Lifecycle Services

LCS is a Microsoft Azure-based collaboration portal that provides a unifying, collaborative environment along with a set of regularly updated services that help you manage the application lifecycle of your implementation. Mavim supports exporting your processes to Microsoft Lifecycle Services.

XML

Exporting an XML document is intended for allowing the use of data from one Mavim database in other Mavim databases or other systems, independently of Version Management.

SharePoint List

Mavim offers the ability to export into existing SharePoint lists that the organization already uses. While information can be stored and used within Mavim, it can also be exported to SharePoint lists for consumption by wider and larger audiences.

With the variety of Import- Export capabilities, the path to onboarding content in Mavim irrespective of your current system of choice is easier compared to other tools in the market. We, as a company, continue to innovate on this front and look forward to bringing more features to the market and make the transition easier, and onboarding to Mavim seamless.
