Building a Digital Future Together

Building a Digital Future Together
At Mavim, we believe in the power of technology not only to transform businesses but also to change lives. With a deep-rooted sense of corporate social responsibility and a local office in Bangalore, we are proud to collaborate with Planet Hope. Together, we are committed to providing young women in India with opportunities for a brighter future.
The Challenge: Creating Opportunities Where They Are Needed Most
In India, many children and young people, particularly from the Dalit community and low-income families, face significant barriers to education and employment. Parents often have to choose between their children's education and basic livelihood. Girls, in particular, contend with societal norms, gender discrimination, and limited access to skill development and financial independence. This frequently leads to a significant digital divide, preventing them from participating in the rapidly growing technology sector. They may remain unemployed due to a lack of education, insufficient basic knowledge and practical skills, or because they cannot afford their education.

Planet Hope: A Path to Empowerment
Planet Hope's objective is to provide these young girls with skills that can make them employable or entrepreneurs, aiming to improve their career opportunities and help them succeed in a technology-driven job market. They offer high-quality vocational training that is locally accessible and meets current labor market demands. Their mission is to equip young girls with skills that make them employable or entrepreneurs, giving them a fair chance in the modern economic world. This is achieved through a holistic approach, based on needs assessments within communities around Bangalore, Darjeeling, and Pondicherry. They strive to provide practical and relevant IT skills to help them succeed in a technology-driven job market.
Key Impact and Achievements in the Past Year (2024)
These initiatives are more than just education; they are a pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty for entire families and building sustainable livelihoods, contributing to long-term social and economic transformation.
IT-focused courses
50 girls enrolled in IT-focused courses, including branding, design, content creation, and video editing. These courses teach students how to build brand images, manage brand identities, design visual materials, and develop marketing materials.
Basic ICT skills
201 girls were trained in basic ICT skills, enabling them to communicate with customers, manage finances, send professional emails, prepare invoices, manage accounts using Excel, and post photos and text on social media and websites to promote their businesses online.
Integration with vocational training
IT skills were integrated with vocational courses such as tailoring and beautician training, enhancing the entrepreneurial potential of 58 girls.
Tally accounting software
47 out of 50 students successfully completed training in Tally accounting software, a widely used tool in India that offers promising career opportunities. This course specifically targeted girls from low-income families in areas like HBR Layout in Bangalore, where many families face challenges such as societal norms and gender bias.
Empowerment and social skills
Monthly workshops were organized for an average of 75 students. These workshops focused on developing communication, resilience, self-confidence, problem-solving, and life skills. Other themes included human rights, hygiene, money management, and safety on social media.
Parent and community engagement
Parental and community involvement is essential. Four events and home visits helped educate families about their children’s education, leading to greater parental engagement. As a result, more students continue their studies or find jobs, and the community supports enrollment.
Mavim's Role: Your Feedback Makes the Difference
Our involvement with Planet Hope extends beyond financial support. We enhance this impact by actively supporting the development of these girls into skilled professionals. While we currently provide traineeships within our Bangalore office for new IT talents, we are committed to extending this initiative to include internships for Planet Hope participants after they successfully complete their education, with a strong focus on practical experience. This way, we directly contribute to training professionals with valuable hands-on experience and excellent career prospects.
